Micro Needling Radio Frequency

Synergistic Skin Resurfacing

Microneedling Radiofrequency (MNRF) is a dual-modality treatment that combines two of the most potent treatments available for treating skin texture. In this, we try to address both superficial and deep layers of the skin by combining the mechanical action of ultra-fine needles with the thermal energy of Radiofrequency (RF). This synergy works by remodeling the skin’s architecture and is particularly potent for treating conditions that were once thought permanent, such as deep acne “pitting” and surgical scars.

Eliminating Acne Scars and Large Pores

  • In urban India, many a times acne leaves behind some atrophic scars which have a lasting emotional impact. MNRF helps in treating these by breaking the collagen fibres that are pulling the skin down, thereby stimulating the skin to produce new collagen to fill up the craters. Side by side, RF heats up the oil glands thereby shrinking the pores and tightening the skin which gives you that smooth, “airbrushed” skin texture.

How the Technology Protects the Surface

The main difference between MNRF and fractional CO2 (another very effective therapy for acne scar reduction) is that it uses “insulated needles” that deliver RF energy at the the tip only which is deep within the dermis and bypasses the top layer of the skin. This helps in significant reduction in  the risk of post-treatment darkening (hyperpigmentation), making it an exceptionally safe and effective choice for the darker skin tones common in the Indian subcontinent.

The Procedure and Comfort Measures

We take patient comfort very seriously at Dermaspace. Before the procedure, a high-potency topical anesthetic cream is applied for 45 minutes, making the sensation feel like a light “prickling.” Depth of the needles is also adjusted (ranging from 0.5mm to 3.5mm) according to the area being treated—using shallower depths for the forehead and deeper for the cheeks and jawline—ensuring optimal results with minimal discomfort.

Post-Treatment Care and Results

Immediately after the session, the skin will appear flushed or mildly swollen, similar to a workout. This would typically fade within 24 to 48 hours. We recommend avoiding harsh actives like retinol, AHA or vitamin C for 1 week and not stepping out in the sun without the use of a good broad spectrum sunscreen. Multiple sessions are required according to your skin type and indication, these have to be spaced 4-6 weeks apart.  Optimum results will be seen 2 months after the last session.

Frequently asked question

Your Questions answered with expert care

Will MNRF get rid of my deep acne scars?
MNRF is one of the most effective treatments for atrophic (pitted) acne scars without causing any major side effects. While 100% erasure is not feasible, it would significantly reduce the depth and improve skin texture by up to 70-80% over multiple sessions.
How many sessions are recommended?
For acne scars, we generally recommend 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for optimal results. For skin tightening, the total number of initial sessions can be 4-6, but maintenance sessions will also be required once in 6 months.
What is the downtime for MNRF?
Your skin will be red and slightly swollen for 24–48 hours. You may feel your skin is a little drier, using a barrier repair moisturiser will help.
Can MNRF be combined with other treatments?
Yes. At Dermaspace, we often tend to combine MNRF with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) or Subcision for deeper scars to accelerate healing and enhance the final result.
Is it safe for active acne?
We generally recommend not doing MNRF on active acne. They have to be controlled first with medication and once they settle, MNRF can be used to treat the resulting scars.
